On 1 October 2006 GV Lawyers Pty Ltd was launched with Pino Monaco and Gordon Bragg as directors.

Both Pino Monaco and Gordon Bragg were partners of Godfrey Virtue & Co.

Until 1968 Godfrey Virtue & Co was known as a Boultbee Godfrey Virtue. 

George Frederick Boultbee was the firm's founder.  He commenced his legal career in Tasmania in 1892 and after completing 5 years articles and a year as a managing clerk with Perkins and Dear he departed for the colony of Western Australia.  Mr Boultbee arrived in Fremantle aboard the S.S. Innimincka on 24 March 1897.  On his arrival Mr Boultbee was employed as a clerk by Messieurs Moorhead and Northmore where he stayed until he commenced in practice on his own account in 1899.  Mr Boultbee was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 15 March 1898.

In 1901 Mr Boultbee began practising in Fremantle.  The practice moved to Perth in 1915.

Frederick White Godfrey emigrated to Australia from Britain with his mother Jane Charlott Godfrey in 1912.  It is understood that Mr Godfrey intended to peruse a career in Australia as a farmer but was advised against this.  On his arrival in Perth he obtained a position with Mr Boultbee as a clerk.  He was articled to Mr Boultbee on 1 May 1916 after passing two preliminary examinations and served 5 years articles with him finally being admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 17 May 1921.  In 1922 Mr Godfrey joined Mr Boultbee in partnership and in the following year the firm of Boultbee and Godfrey had an office in Perth and one at Midland Junction.

In 1929 the firm ceased practice in Midland.  Boultbee and Godfrey practiced together until 1935 when they were joined by John Evenden Virtue.  The firm was then called Boultbee Godfrey Virtue. 

John Evenden Virtue was appointed to the Supreme Court 1952 and was later knighted.

In 1958 the firm opened branches in Midland Junction and Bassendean.

The firm continued to practice as Boultbee Godfrey Virtue until 1968 when it became known as Godfrey Virtue & Co.

The firm practised from Fremantle, 66 St George's Terrace, to 44 St George's Terrace, 10 Pier Street, 40 St George's  Terrace and 16 Irwin Street, Perth.
